Oct. 30, 2017 -- A delegation consisted of students studying in the High-level Tibetan Buddhism College of China, the highest Tibetan Buddhist academy of China, held a dharma assembly and traditional scripture debating event in the Guyan Temple in Kaohsiung during their recent visit to China's Taiwan for cultural exchanges.

"I was very surprised, but also gained a lot of inspiration. Having all these monks from the college to introduce Tibetan Buddhism is very significant for Buddhist cultural exchanges across the strait. The advanced Buddhist quality and modesty of Thutop Sengge Lama and the scholars and monks, especially their spirit of exploration showed in the debate, left a deep impression on me and the believers," said Huidu, abbot of the temple.

Before becoming a monk, Hui Du has been actively promoting Buddhist culture and Buddhist music culture. In recent years he has been more devoted to promoting cultural exchanges between Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism across the strait.

He said that he has been involved with Buddhist culture for over 40 years and has a good understanding of Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism, so he has always hoped for in-depth exchanges with Tibetan Buddhism.

Hui Du hopes that the Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism cultural exchange events across the strait can continue.

"The Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism have the greatest impact in China.  Therefore, it is essential for us to promote the their exchange across the strait, as this will have a positive impact on the development of Chinese Buddhist culture."
