Chinese lawmakers to review draft amendments to criminal law

October 31, 2017 -- The 30th session of the 12th National People’s Congress Standing Committee will be held from Oct. 30th to Nov. 4th, when a series of draft amendments will be reviewed including a new amendment to the Criminal Law.

The current Criminal Law has been amended for 9 times in the 20 years since its promulgation in 1997. Nearly one third of the articles in the law have been amended compared with the 1997 version. The amendments have reduced death penalty, adjusted penalty structures and updated criminal charges and regulations.
