Poverty alleviation projects benefit over 200,000 people in Tibet

Oct. 12, 2017 -- By the end of September, 2017, Tibet Autonomous Region had made an investment of 13,129 billion yuan in poverty alleviation projects, which has helped to lift 115, 300 Tibetans out of poverty and benefited more than 200,000 Tibetans.

Tibet aims to lift 238,000 impoverished Tibetans out of poverty by 2020. In addition, the region also plans to introduce more than 200 leading companies and develop more than 1500 new-type businesses to help poor families get jobs.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Tibet will develop 3,816 poverty alleviation projects with a total investment of 10.385 billion yuan. By the end of this September, 1,515 projects had been under construction and 492 had been completed.
