Rural power grid upgrading to improve Tibetans’ livelihood

May 19,2017--Sacuo village, a high-altitude village in central Tibet’s Nagqu County, has been connected to Tibet’s regional electric network in a new round of electric grid upgrading in Tibet’s rural areas.

Sacuo village, with an average altitude of over 4,500 meters, mainly depends on animal husbandry. Lack of stable electricity has long been an obstacle to the development of the dairy industry in the village, which drags down the speed of poverty eradication.

The nearly 12 billion yuan power grid upgrading project has benefited more than 5,000 households. Over 20,000 villagers have got access to more secure and stable electricity.

The upgrading project will improve people’s livelihood and narrow the gap in public services between urban and rural areas.
